Welcome to your Council for the Arts!
For five decades, the Council for the Arts of Greater Lima has been working to live up to its simple, yet challenging mission: To Enrich the Lives of the People of the Greater Lima Area Through the Arts.
How we go about serving that mission has evolved along with our community’s needs. When we saw a need for improved arts education opportunities for our children, we developed one of the state’s first Artists in Residence programs. When we saw that our community needed free, family entertainment, we created Concerts in the Parks. This past year, when our local economic development leaders started talking about the negative perceptions of our community, we created Third Thursdays, a program designed to tell the world that Lima is at the center of an artistic revolution.
Over the years, the Council for the Arts has responded to our community’s needs with programs that included theater, creative writing, dance, music, community dialogue and festivals. In every instance, we have worked to make sure these programs are affordable and accessible to everybody.
